Didipio Line Distance Protection Upgrade

Scope

Retrofitting of second set of protection relays on 69kV transmission line from National Grid Corporation substation to the mine.

Existing transmission line protection consisted of a basic overcurrent and earth fault device at each end. Voltex designed, configured, assembled, installed and commissioned a second set of protection for this line, utilising proper transmission line protection relays. As installed, these devices provide both an impedance-based system and also a differential protection scheme. The new relays work through the existing fibre optic communications network.
