Scope

Protection and Arc Flash Studies, Design, Configuration, FAT and SAT Commissioning of Protection and IEC61850 Substation Automation System for two 33 kV double-bus switchboards. X and Y protection with GE Multilin UR series and ABB Relion Series IEDs. Voltex succesfully integrated 114 GE and ABB IEDs.

Lihir Gold’s 33 kV distribution switchboard had been recognised as a critical infrastructure risk by the client. Two new double-bus indoor SF6 switchboards were planned to mitigate the risk and improve redundancy.

Newcrest Lihir engaged Voltex to provide design, configuration, FAT and SAT commissioning of the protection and IEC61850 Substation Automation System, and to project manage the many staged cutovers from the existing board, with the added constraints of COVID-19 restrictions.
